7. The Ground Sloth
The massive skeleton initially thought to be a bear actually belongs to a ground sloth, a close relative of modern sloths. Ground sloths roamed the Earth as recently as 8,000 years ago. Remarkably, DNA samples have been extracted from undamaged hairs of this ancient creature. However, the challenge lies in finding a suitable surrogate mother for the ground sloth’s resurrection.
Despite this unique obstacle, the discovery of DNA in preserved hairs provides an opportunity to study and potentially bring back the ground sloth. This finding sheds light on the ancient world and offers insights into the biology and ecology of ground sloths
