5. Ichthyosaurus And Dolphins
Ancient Lookalikes Mesozoic fish lizards known as Ichthyosaurus bear a striking resemblance to modern dolphins. However, despite their visual similarities, these creatures are separated by over 200 million years of evolution. Dolphins, surprisingly, are more closely related to giraffes and camels than to their ancient lookalikes. The convergence in their appearance can be attributed to their shared marine environment and the adaptive advantages provided by dorsal fins for efficient swimming.
